Tennessee Pharmacists Association

Founded in 1990, the Tennessee Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation (TPREF) is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt educational organization and a direct subsidiary of TPA. TPREF exists to advance the practice of pharmacy through research and education. TPREF utilizes its resources to:

  • Increase patient access to pharmacist-provided patient care services through various activities;

  • Enhance the knowledge, ethics, and skills of pharmacists through delivery of education and training; and

  • Improve the standard of care for pharmacist-provided patient care through grants, research activities, and educational programs.

As an organization, TPREF has successfully implemented several practice-based research and innovative patient care initiatives. In many cases, TPREF has partnered with national, state, and local partners to achieve representation and collaboration with all areas of pharmacy practice. The result has been, and continues to be, a progressive and innovative culture in Tennessee that continues to lead in how pharmacy is practiced across the country. Through the generosity of Tennessee’s pharmacy professionals, TPREF has been instrumental in keeping Tennessee a recognized leader in pharmacy practice through:

  • Student Pharmacist Support: Providing annual educational scholarships for student pharmacists at each of the colleges/schools of pharmacy in Tennessee.

  • Leadership Development: Facilitating the Emerging Leaders Academy, a longtitudinal leadership skill development for new pharmacist practitioners, and supporting the 12-week Executive Internship in Association Management for a first or second year student pharmacist.

  • Practice Advancement: Supporting innovative ideas and research projects to advance pharmacy practice in Tennessee and beyond.

  • Home of Tennessee Pharmacy: Preserving the home of the Tennessee Pharmacists Association through management of the property at 1732 Lebanon Pike Circle in Nashville, TN.

  • High-Quality Continuing Education: Providing ACPE-accredited educational offerings through the Tennesseee Pharmacists Consortium for Education (TPCE).

  • Supporting Those in Recovery: Through the Tennessee Pharmacy Recovery Network (TPRN), health care professionals, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists, receive peer-to-peer support and monitoring to aid these professional on the road to recovery.

  • Resource & Education Development: Obtaining resources from pharmacy-related organizations and professionals via annual fundraising programs, estate gifting, memorials, and endowed programs of scholarship, recognition, and professional development.

None of this is possible without the generosity of Tennessee’s pharmacy professionals. Please consider donating to the TPREF’s general fund or pledge a sustained contribution at 1990 Society level.

TPREF has no direct employees. Members of the TPA staff maintain all TPREF organizational operations and provide administrative services to TPREF on a contractual basis. The Tennessee Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation is a not for profit 501(c)3 charitable organization and all donations are tax deductible.
