Health care professionals — including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists — are at risk for substance use disorder due to greater stress, burnout, and easier access to potentially impairing medications.
Impairment creates major problems, not just for personal lives and careers, but in the potential harm which can be inflicted upon the patients who trust their health and lives to the dependability of the pharmacy services.
Recognizing this, and in genuine concern for both the pharmacy professional and the integrity of the profession, the Tennessee Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation (TPREF) has a vigorous and confidential program to provide peer assistance and mental health support for all Tennessee pharmacy professionals.
For more information, review the TPRN Policies/Procedures and TPRN Advocacy Committee Members.
TPRN Regional Meetings
TPRN has seven regional meetings across Tennessee, facilitated by TPRN Advocacy Committee members. These meetings are accountability groups provided at no cost to TPRN program participants. Direct support and feedback are given to assist individuals in the recovery program. These meeting are open to all pharmacy professionals who may need help with a substance use disorder.
