Nashville, TN (September 10, 2026) β€” Governor Bill Lee has issued a proclamation officially designating October 2026 as Pharmacists Month in Tennessee, recognizing the vital contributions of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists in advancing patient care and improving public health across the state. The proclamation highlights the essential role pharmacy professionals play in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications, supporting chronic disease management, delivering preventive services, and expanding access to healthcare for Tennesseans.

The proclamation also acknowledges that more than 9,500 licensed pharmacists and 19,000 pharmacy technicians serve Tennessee communities every day, providing trusted expertise and helping patients achieve better health outcomes. Pharmacy professionals continue to serve as clinicians, educators, researchers, innovators, public health leaders, and patient advocates whose work strengthens Tennessee’s healthcare system.

TPA CEO Anthony Pudlo praised the recognition, stating, β€œPharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists make an extraordinary impact on the health and well-being of Tennesseans every day. We appreciate Governor Lee’s recognition of the profession and the important role pharmacy teams play in improving access to care, supporting patients, and strengthening communities across our state.”

Each October, the Tennessee Pharmacists Association celebrates Pharmacists Month to recognize the dedication, expertise, and service of pharmacy professionals and to raise awareness of their critical role in patient care and public health. The association encourages Tennesseans to take time throughout the month to thank the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists who make a difference in their communities every day.
